Jennifer Aniston’s Spring Fashion

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Sweet and charming Jennifer Aniston has always been regarded as one of the most lovable TV personalities. And with good reason, too. She has always been on top of her acting career and her fashion and style sense as well. She particularly loves spring fashion, as seen in her wardrobe.

If you are just like Jennifer Aniston, she actually has a couple of tips that would allow you to become a star of your own. Also good news is that you do not have to spend a lot of money just to update your closet and accessorize.

Flower power is the way to go this season. You can try anything from floral blouses to skirts and dresses. But, try to avoid it if you are going for a formal or business attire. You can just use some floral jewelry as an accessory or a brooch as a fun way to break the monotony. Floral scarves are hot.

Shoes. Everything from platform wedges to gladiator sandals. Just avoid extreme shoes for office wear. Make sure that you tailor the look to enhance and complement your personality and style.

Colored bags and shoes. We see a lot of crayon colors in bags and shoes, like pink, green, blue, violet, grape and bright yellow. These bright colorful bags jump off the page in large totes or bold clutches. We are reminded of kindergarten when we see bright crayon colors. Make sure that you choose your accessories carefully. Choose a structured shape and size if you are wearing a bright colored bag. Go with conservative colors and classic colors for client meetings and office attire. Try to reserve your crayon brights for a walk in the park or casual day at the office.

Spring 2006 Fashion Colors

Monday, February 8th, 2010

They stopped selling winter coats in the store around November and started gearing up for spring. The transition started with the spring colors but longer sleeves but now they are stocking the shelves with spring and summer garb. Before you hit the racks, do you know what to choose that best compliments your image? Remember our rule. Unless you are dumping the entire closet in the trash (and there are some out there who should), never buy dailywear unless it goes with 3 things in your wardrobe.

So what colors are hot this spring? You will see the return of the turquoise and hot pink of last year but this years palette is topped off with orange (and we mean orange!) and kelly green. The sage, celery and celadon greens of the past 2 years have gone to the wayside. We even saw a kelly green polo shirt for men last week.

However, the shocking news especially for the east coast is this. Despite the line from Wicked! that “Black is this year’s pink,” black is out! Khaki and olive green and “sand dollar” are replacing black as the staple for the wardrobe. I personally will be hiding out in my house until this trend ends. On a serious note, be careful what you choose from this color set. These neutrals are not as nuetral as they sound. Most of us cannot wear olive green and the khaki colors come in a variety of shades that can leave some of us looking like yesterday’s leftovers.

In other fashion news, white has also made a huge comeback along with a few pastels. Again, watch out for this one. Skin tone, your age, and your natural hair color play a major role in your ability to carry off white…and I don’t care what anyone says, don’t get those white shoes out until after Memorial Day!

Now that we have thrown you into thinking about color, stay tuned for next month’s fashion advice on the styles that will make or break your spring and summer collection.

Completely overwhelmed by what you read and not even sure what we mean by the right color or fabric? Consult with an image specialist or personal shopper in your area.

7 Spring Fashion Tips

Friday, December 4th, 2009

Well you definitely need a compass for this year’s Spring and Summer fashions. While flirty and fun is “in,” don’t forget tailored and chic. In fact, it is ok to mix the two. Here are the Spring’s fashion trends:
Spring dresses are definitely the item to have this season. Very much inspired by the 50’s and early 60’s, you can find vintage or new fashions right on the rack in every major clothing store. Look for little ruffles, flowing fabrics, big buttons and belts. White is everywhere. Be careful with this one as some complexions are not cut out for stark white. If you are nearing middle age, try using white in your accessories instead of brilliant white jackets or skirts. Everyone should be cautious about what we call Minnie Mouse shoes and please don’t break out the white pants, skirts and shoes until after Memorial Day. I don’t care what anyone says. Some rules are not meant to be broken. Chunky shoes and platform sandals are still the rage this season. Be careful when pairing with your 50’s inspired dress or you will look like you came straight from a rummage sale and not the fashionable trendy shops. Of course some might say that is the trend too. Chunky necklaces are still in this season as well. Natural woods and brighter colors play a part in the spring continuation of this fall trend. A line and tulip skirts are all over the spring fashion scene. Watch the length and the belting. A line skirts are great camouflage for larger hips. Tops are flirty with ruffles, cinching under the bust, and belting or gathers at the waist. These looks are great with jeans, loose fitting trouser style pants, and skirts but can also be paired with a tailored jacket and skirt or pants for work to add a little femininity to your tailored work attire. Although many chiropractors and doctors may protest, the handbags are available in big and bigger. As always though there has to be balance between what you are wearing and the size and style of bag you are carrying.

Remember no matter what styles you choose, you should always make sure you have other pieces (we recommend three) already in your wardrobe with which to coordinate. Also, be cognizant of the styles and how they look on someone of your age. You can make yourself look like mutton dressed as lamb if you try to be too trendy or too flirty with your styles. Always be aware of shape and color and how it relates to your body. We will say it just this once in this article. Just because they make it in your size does not mean you should wear it. Now enjoy the spring weather and flowers and have fun accessorizing your wardrobe.

Spring Fashion Trends – 7 New Colors To Freshen Your Wardrobe

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

The news spring fashion trends bring a few colors that seem to be everywhere. Do you ever wonder how so many different designers come up with the same color palette?

The truth is that there are certain trends each season that are picked up by designers everywhere for their collections. And the colors are very specific. So it’s not just any blue or yellow, but a specific shade of blue or yellow that’s different from last year’s hues.

So what are the fresh spring colors for 2008? Here are 7 colors to look for.

1. Freesia: this is a warm buttery yellow that looks beautiful on women of lighter coloring. It’s not a bright crayon yellow, or the skin-sapping mustard colors that don’t flatter many complexions. You can find freesia in everything from print dresses to trench coats. If it’s not a color that looks good next to your face, try adding it in a handbag for a sunburst of color.

2. Cantaloupe: This color is a cross between orange and pink. It’s the color of cantaloupe, actually! This is also a color that looks great on women with fairer complexions, and may look sallow on women of stronger coloring. Keep it in your accessories if it doesn’t work for you.

3. Rococco red: From skirts to shoes, this shade of red is fun to wear from almost anyone.

4. Daiquiri Green: a light green tone that is fresh as spring, but not great on everyone. Try some shoes in this color for a fun addition to your wardrobe.

5. Croissant – this neutral beige color looks great in a dress for work. It’s a bit quiet, so if it washes you out, be sure to add a bit of color near your face, in a scarf (very big this year), or a necklace with some gemstones.

6. Snorkel blue: a medium blue that’s not too light, and nothing close to navy. It’s a pretty way to add color to a business wardrobe, without going over the top. Pair it with the croissant colored dress, and you have a great outfit for work.

7. Spring crocus – a lovely shade of mauve, this color represents the first signs of spring. Add it to your black or grey winter wardrobe as you transition to your spring and summer wear. Add a belt, scarf or shoes in this color to any wardrobe and take joy in the warmer weather on the horizon.

Every season brings a few colors that seem to be everywhere. So what are the fresh spring colors for 2008? This article gives you 7 fresh colors to look for right now.

Spring Fashion Forecast

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Living in LA, we are completely spoiled by our weather. There is little difference between the seasons, so forgive us, if we are not quite as excited about the imminence of spring as the rest of the world. We haven’t had to suffer through five months of snow and rain. For us, spring is less about the change in the weather and the hopes of getting our legs out, as it is an opportunity to refine our wardrobes and add a little more color to them. By following theses three spring trends you can get your spring look off to a great start no matter where you live and what your budget may be.

Geometry Lesson

Spring is often associated with Easter, pastels, cherry blossoms, and worrying about your newly exposed pasty legs. This spring however, you can forget about pastels, as it’s all about bright, bold, retro and geometric prints. Add some color and warmth to your days with a boldly printed skirt or dress.

This trend does require some extra care and attention. The loud prints have the potential to upstage you, so try to find a print that complements your natural coloring. If you are fair, look for prints with slightly lighter colors, possibly against a white background. Women with darker hair and skin can pull off brighter prints more easily. If you feel like you are getting lost in your dress, you can always pair a bold skirt with a solid colored top to tone the look down a bit.

Designers from every price point can be seen working this trend. From Milly and Iodice Hilda, to Forever 21, everyone should be able to find a piece that will suit them and their budget.

Sweet Creams

The springtime equivalent to the little black dress is the little cream dress. White tends to look too harsh on our not quite tanned yet bodies. Save white for the dead of summer after you’ve spent a little time at the beach or the pool. Cream, however still gives that light, fresh, feminine look, without creating too much contrast.

My favorite spring dresses incorporate texture into the pattern or print. Try to find a cream dress that has texture in the fabric or details such as eyelet or lace, interesting piping, or great buttons. This creates interest and movement in your monochromatic look. You can also accessorize with a little color to create added drama. Try pairing a cream dress with a muted metallic shoe or a brightly colored cuff.

Cream dresses are everywhere right now. You can find them in a multitude of styles such as A line, trapeze, empire, and shift. Check out the spring collections of 3.1 Philip Lim, Chloe, BCBG, and Vanitas for great creamy delights.

Trapeze Act

The juvenile silhouette of the trapeze top or jacket is popping up in collections and stores the world over. This look, which flares out from under the bust is great for almost anyone, especially if you are having a fat day. With so much extra fabric to swish around, you can’t help but feel younger, thinner, and more feminine when sporting this trend.

Counter act the little girl look by glaming up your trapeze top with skinny jeans and killer heels. Finish off the look with sophisticated accessories. You can also pair leggings with muted metallic heels or ankle boots with your trapeze dress for a funky take on this trend.

Gucci, Derek Lam, Peter Som, and Giambattista Valli are just a few of the designers that successfully incorporated the trapeze silhouette into their spring 2007 collections.

Remember, spring fashion is a little more fun and flirty this year. Dare to be bold in a great print. Find yourself a feminine cream dress, and tap in to your inner child in an amazingly comfortable yet fashionable trapeze dress. Each of these trends can be found at any price, from your local Forever 21 to the latest ready to wear collections. Enjoy finding the pieces that are perfect for you and your budget, then put your own spin on them!

Spring 2008 Fashion Styles – Top Twelve Trends

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

Take a blend of many decades of style, add a dash of old Hollywood glamour, and you have the magic of the trends for spring 2008. This season the designers added modern twists to our favorite classic and timeless pieces. Fashion icons like Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy, and Princess Diana wore many of these sophisticated and classic trends: romantic, flirty, and colorful in design and mood. Here are my top twelve trends for spring. You may not love all of them, but I encourage you to select a few to add to your existing wardrobe to look more modern and fashionable.

1). Crayola Colors This season the designers have added a lot of vibrant hues in saturated colors like bright yellow, grass green, royal blue, red, safety orange and fuchsia. These bright colors may be hard for everyone to wear. If you want to experiment with bold colors, start with a bright blouse or jacket and pair it with a pair of white pants or a skirt, which will tone it down a bit. When you wear bright colors like these, keep your accessories simple, so that the color becomes the focal point.

2). Pattern Punch, Creative Strokes & Floral Dresses, jackets, tops and skirts will come in all sizes of patterns this season. The popular prints will have graphic, geometric and abstract motifs. You will see some beautiful new prints that look like creative brush stroke patterns off an artist’s canvas in a light whimsical scrawl or a blurred watercolor abstract. Romantic florals will dominate the season in medium to large prints. When selecting a print to wear in the professional business arena, remember to keep it in the small to medium range, and in a subtle color.

3). The Waist-Defined Dress Springtime is all about dresses this year. The two most popular styles, which I adore, are the shirt dress and the sheath dress; both of which accentuate the waist area. I love these styles because they work well in a business casual work environment, and can go from day to night with a change to dressier accessories. The shirt dress is a tailored, stylish, and classic silhouette, with a collar that can be worn turned up a bit, and a button-down front, which when unbuttoned, can create a great V-neckline. A shirt dress with a sash or belt can compliment a waistline, or help to create one that is not prominent enough. This style of dress is flattering to many different body types. Many sheath dress styles can be worn without a belt but are shapely to your body and define a bit of waist. This dress looks professional worn with a modern or tailored jacket during the day, and worn with a great purse and clutch handbag for an after-hours event. For work this style of dress worn with a jacket conveys professionalism, expertise and femininity for women in business.

4). The Timeless Trench The classic trench returns in time for the springtime weather and it is a great wardrobe essential that every woman needs in her closet. This season you will see a more modern version of the classic trench coat. The latest twists are brighter colors, lighter fabrics and shorter jacket styles, which look great with dress trousers. The timeless trench takes on a springtime, fresh look with softer fabrics and fun colors. This is also a great item to pair with jeans and sandals during those cool spring evenings to look stylish and chic.

5). The Feminine Blouse The mood of the season is romantic and flirty when it comes to blouses. Beautiful soft blouses in pastels and prints with lots of feminine details like ruffles, pin tucks and tiny pleats. With the fine detailing on these blouses, keep jewelry to a minimum. This is a great must-have for every workingwoman, as this sophisticated and romantic item can modernize a classic suit and add a womanly flair to a basic tailored suit.

6). Out of Africa Safari wear is a great timeless trend again this season. From the 1970’s era, you will see African safari jackets, khaki shirt dresses, and belted safari pant suits. In with this trend you’ll find great animal prints, like leopard and giraffe, in dresses and tops. To give this style a great head to toe look try pairing a safari outfit with some natural wood accessories and trendy wide strapped sandals with wooden soles and heels.

7). Full, Flirty Skirts Skirt silhouettes will be full and stylish this season like the dirndl, the A-line, pleated styles and soft flirty skirts with a fuller silhouette. These styles will be in solid bold colors, color blocked prints, floral and artistic prints. A soft A-line skirt that gently drapes over your hip is a flattering style for many women, as it camouflages large hip areas. Any of these styles worn with a modern jacket, a twin set or a soft feminine blouse makes for a winning combination to keep in mind for a business casual workday.

8). High-Waisted Trousers This is a hard trend for many women to accept since we have, for years, had to become accustomed to the low-rise pant. This trend started last fall and we are definitely starting to see more dramatic waistbands rise to new levels. The styles that illustrate this trend are the sailor pant or wide-legged pant. While this trend may not work for everyone, if you have a defined waistline, this can really show off your small waist area. You will look curvy, but womanly. When you wear a higher-waist pant be sure to balance it with a form fitting top on your upper torso, making your legs appear slimmer and longer. If your body type doesn’t look great in this trend – skip it, as there are a lot of pants options this season.

9). Global Chic This season the designers traveled the world and went outside the box to get inspired for new patterns, shapes and accessories to give that “melting pot” allure to dressing. You will see a large ethnic influence like apparel with embroidery or intricate Bali-influenced prints. In jewelry you will see tribal beads, stones, chunky wooden carved necklaces and natural wood pieces. When you wear a piece of this global look, incorporate it with some other pieces in your wardrobe. Perhaps add a dramatic necklace or bracelet from a faraway place to finish a look on a safari ensemble, or casual jean outfit.

10). Shoes – Architectural Heels and Bold Colors Shoes this season will be very structured with lots of architectural details on the heels and artfully designed platforms. The structured high wooden heels and soles on sandals will look natural and earthy when worn with dresses and skirts. At the other end of the spectrum is color. You will see pops of color in a modern mix of color blocking on shoes like bright pinks and yellows mixed with black. If you decide to wear some colorful shoes in vivid colors, let them be the focus and keep the ensemble simple and elegant.

11). Shades of Gold: Metallic Jewelry Necklaces, bracelets and earrings this season will be in new shades of metallic gold. Rose gold is the new modern gold to wear. If you are warm in coloring, adding rose gold accessories will make your current wardrobe more contemporary. This shade of gold looks beautiful with many of the beautiful neutral colors coming out this spring and summer.

12). Stacked Bangles and Cuffs In the bracelet category you will see cuffs in various metallics, and bold color in Lucite. Stack up your arm with some fun bangles in different shapes and sizes. This is a fun item to wear to add some style to a dress or if you are wearing a short sleeve or sleeveless blouse. Do be careful if you are in the workplace that you don’t overdo it. Perhaps go for one cuff bracelet so you aren’t jingling all over the office.

I hope that you find at least two to three trends that you are willing to try to incorporate into your existing wardrobe. If you add a few of these into your classic-trend ensembles, you will look stylish and chic for every occasion.

Spring 2008 Fashion Essentials – Pajama Pants

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

The must wear day wear essential for Spring 2008 is.. (drum roll, please).. a pair of pajama pants.

Huh?

Spring fashion is all about light weight dresses in cheerful colors and bright prints. Pretty dresses, floaty chiffons and voluminous, though relatively short, skirts characterize Spring 2008. So what is a pants-loving girl gonna do?

The pants that took center stage this season is inspired by the humble pajama set. Actually, silky pajama inspired pants and tops, in graphic prints, ruled the catwalk where women’s pants are concerned.

One of the shockers was when models graced the catwalks in clothes suitable for pajama parties. Robes and bona-fide pajamas sets were featured in day wear collections. Turns out the hottest look, where pants are concerned is the pajama-inspired pants. Not a pair of old ratty pajamas but flowy, wide legged, silky pants so comfy you could sleep in them. Pajama-like, no doubt, but pretty enough to be seen in when you go out.

Prada and Karl Lagerfeld had their models strut on the catwalks wearing sheer, silky pants, that look suitable for pajama parties as well. Calvin Klein and DKNY featured high waist silky pants that looked as comfortable as pajama pants, though so much more feminine. These are very wearable.

Going on a date? Try a pair of flowy pajama style pants worn with a slinky top and a black leather jacket.

If you work in a creative line, you could get away with flowy silk pants [http://www.buy-pants.com/silk-pants.htm] worn with a smart blouse and jacket.

For once, being fashionable can be extremely comfortable. Especially if you go for the pajama inspired look.

List of New Spring Fashion Trends

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

Spring fashion trends change every year so that shoppers will have something new and exciting to wear every year. These trends range from tuxedos to disco to safari wear with only a common escapist thread linking the different spring fashion trends of different countries.

Spring fashion trends are more colorful and imaginative

The spring of 2008 heralds cheerful and bright colors which are a livelier alternative to the old gothic obsession of black fashion wear. Those who are into fashion will deck themselves in eye-popping colors like vermillion, verdant green, hibiscus red and cobalt blue, and they will become the center of attraction wherever they go.

This year, spring fashion trends feature flower themes. On the catwalk, you will find that models are practically walking bouquets of roses, pansies and peonies. Designers have gone wild with inspiration with their display of vibrant pictures and blurred motifs used in their designs. And if you don’t actually like large and graphic floral prints, you can always follow the flowery trend with summer dresses and silky scarves that feature mid-sized prints.

Another interesting spring fashion trend is fairies and wood nymphs with imprinted designs of ethereal creatures, as well as details of foliage, feathers and flowers added to airy dresses. This trend translates an imaginary realm into a visible world of enchanting beauty.

Bring out the goddess in you with Greco-Roman fashion wear

If you want something a little revealing, you can try out the latest transparent spring fashion trend. With this trend, you will find women wearing designs imprinted on translucent textiles so that the body is revealed with both subtlety and taste. And to create a nude-to-neutral palette, you have sorbet hues and washed-out tones to accentuate this filmy fabric.

In a bid to bring something historic and interesting to the fashion world, fashion designers have introduced the Greco-Roman goddess dress as the latest spring fashion trend. Such a dress has intricate pleating with creative twists and folds of fabric that is used to create incarnations of toga-style goddess gowns, gladiator skirts, and believe it or not, harem pants too.

Why not go out in your underwear this spring?

The latest pajama fashion has revealed lingerie-like pieces which create a niche between a dreamland and sensible wardrobe. This trend was created by fashioners who wish to make outerwear from women’s underwear like naughty nighties, gossamer slips, silky robes, bras and panties. This spring fashion trend certainly looks great on the catwalk, and you can make it look more interesting with boudoir details like boning, lace, bows and ribbons.

Metal is not only a thing of jewelries, but also in 2008’s spring fashion trends. In addition to the trendy silver, gold, bronze and copper sequin covered dresses of yesteryear, designers have come up with new pieces that feature high-tech plastic fabrics, foil-like lame and glossy satins.
Going global is the latest in fashion trends

Boyfriend dressing is an interesting new spring fashion trend of 2008. This trend offers gender bending designs in women’s fashion, with strong emphasis on the male suit. Designers have designed tuxedo style suits, boyfriend blazers, tailored vests and smart trousers for the rebellious chicks. These also come with accessories like bow ties, cummerbunds and boutonnieres. If you want something softer, you can always try the bow tie blouse and tie-top dress.

And if you are into something global, try out the safari range of spring fashion trends which include leopard prints, khaki, African field jackets, and chunky tribal jewelry. So try hopping into this spring fashion trend and add an interesting safari suit with an animal print accessory to your summer wardrobe.

With so much to choose from for your spring wardrobe, you will surely find something that you truly desire.
